Classic Punk artists Blondie and Devo delivered tonight; and Chuck Sperry provided punk flyer fodder for their enjoyment – his Blondie / Devo poster for the Warfield Theater – number 163 in the Firehouse Goldenvoice Poster Series. All the members of Devo were spied, crowded around his poster digging it tonight, loving all the references to their song titles. There’s a tip of the hat to the trash punk aesthetic by using comic book advertising material for a basis of the design, and another tip of the hat to the artists by including their album and song titles in his design.
